THE JOURNEY OF

La Huerta San Sebastian

A Timeline of Vision and Growth

In Todos Santos, some stories are written in stone, others in soil. The story of La Huerta begins with both—the deep roots of fruit trees planted decades ago and the solid foundations of architecture designed to endure. What follows is not just the timeline of a development, but the quiet unfolding of a project where land, culture, and architecture converge.

Looking Ahead

Enduring Architecture, Lasting Legacy

The full realization of La Huerta is anticipated between 2028 and 2029. While the journey is still

unfolding, one thing remains clear: La Huerta is more than a collection of homes—it’s a generational project. A place where contemporary Mexican architecture, ecological sensitivity, and cultural heritage intersect to create spaces that feel timeless, grounded, and deeply connected to the land they rise from.

Total completion of the project:

The development of 10 unique residences will be finished.

The North side of the property neared completion, with structures seamlessly integrated into the orchard’s organic footprint. Development of the right side began, echoing the same approach: contextual design, craftsmanship over speed, and an unwavering respect for the cultural and ecological heritage of Todos Santos.

The community was evolving not as an imposition on the land, but as a natural continuation of its history.

The Architectural Narrative Expands

As work progressed on the first three homes, two additional residences will break ground.

Throughout the process, the architects remain committed to the guiding principle: architecture

that listens to the land, honors tradition, and embraces the Baja climate, from hurricane resilience to passive cooling.

This phase marked the deepening of La Huerta’s architectural identity—a balance of permanence, simplicity, and sensory connection to place.

Casa Entre Patios

Construction began on the first three residences, each meticulously designed to dissolve the line between built space and the natural landscape.

Drawing inspiration from Baja’s historic missions, haciendas, and vernacular forms, these homes are defined by thick walls, natural textures, and a restrained, elemental material palette —palo de arco,

local stone, clay, and lime finishes.

This year laid the structural groundwork. No homes were yet completed, but the spatial and architectural language of La Huerta was quietly taking shape.

Discovery & Vision

Local Residents of Todos Santos Ricardo and Sam, also founders of CasaBaja Work Group and La Huerta San Sebastián, encountered this land. Its raw beauty, layered with history, made it impossible to overlook.

Recognizing its potential, they secured the property with a vision: to create a contemporary residential enclave that respects the land’s agricultural legacy while elevating Mexican architectural excellence.

In line with that ethos, they invited a select group of Mexican architects—creators deeply attuned to the nuances of local climate, culture, and materiality. These weren’t distant design meetings;they were immersive experiences. The architects lived the land, walked its paths, and absorbed the atmosphere—essential ingredients for a design language rooted in authenticity, simplicity, and permanence.

Long before plans were drafted or foundations poured, this land thrived as the orchard for a culinary landmark in Todos Santos. Yet, beyond the walls of their restaurant, their private huerta —the orchard— was a hidden world of sun-soaked mango tree gardens, quietly embodying the rhythm of Baja's agricultural past.

This land held stories beneath the surface, its roots intertwined with the town’s identity, long before architecture arrived.
